Our goal is to assist the parents in their responsibility to develop in their child, a sense of belonging to a Faith Community which is identified by its beliefs in Jesus Christ as well as the writings and teachings of the Catholic Church. We offer classes for Kindergarten through the 8th grade.

The Director of Religious Formation is the overseer of the faith formation program. The program is staffed by capable and conscientious volunteers. The Diocese of Dodge City provides continuing education and certification of catechists through professional college classes, Diocesan workshops, and parish workshops. Anyone teaching in our program must be open to a criminal background check and participating in the Protecting God’s Children workshop on child abuse.

Our sacramental preparation programs require students to be enrolled in the Wednesday evening Religious Formation classes or in St. Dominic School. Baptism is a pre-requisite for the other sacraments. Those who were not baptized at St. Dominic will need to present a copy of their baptismal certificate to the Director of Religious Formation.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are celebrated in second grade or above. First Reconciliation is celebrated during Advent, following a semester of formation classes and one parent/child meeting. First Eucharist is celebrated in April or May of the same school year, following a semester of formation classes and one parent/child meeting.

Confirmation is usually received during the Easter season.  In 2024, the decision was made at the diocese to begin confirming students in the 6th grade, so for the 2024-25 year only, all students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades will be confirmed.  In subsequent years, confirmation will be celebrated in the 6th grade.  Sponsors must be actively involved Catholics who are at least 16 years of age and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
