Fourth Sunday of Easter

A lot of people are very close to animals, whether pets or not. I remember how close I was to our dogs and cats growing up. Now I have allergies! This Sunday’s gospel is about the sheep and the shepherd. In order for the flock to thrive and be safe, there has to be a certain degree of closeness. The same is true for our relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd. In order for us to grow and enjoy safety and peace, we must stay close to Him. I never feel so close to Him as during Holy Week and the Easter season. When do you feel the closest to Him? Closeness to the Risen Lord enables us to have “life and have it more abundantly”, as Jesus says in John 10. May all that is happening at this time of the year bring us closer to Him.

Grace and Peace, Father Reggie
