Emmaus House

This year we have been continuing our work with the Emmaus House in Garden City.  They are often in need of our food and cash donations to continue serving those in need in our community.  It is a great lesson for our children to get in the habit of giving and pick up an extra canned good or two when we go to grocery store.  We will be doing an ongoing collection throughout the rest of the school year and will periodically take it to the Emmaus House.  If your family would like to help deliver, please let me know.

January 25-February 3     Canned Soup

February 6-10   Canned Veggies

February 13-23   Macaroni and Pasta

Read Week Reading Buddies

One of our fun activities during Read Week this year was to "buddy read" with a younger class. Both 5th and 6th grades picked Dr. Seuss books to read to Kindergarden. Each grade also provided an ingredient for a silly snack mix to share while we read. It was a great afternoon!

November Emmaus House

Dear 5th grade families,

This year we are continuing the work with Emmaus House for our class service project.  In 4th grade, we visited Emmaus House and learned more about what they do and how they help in the community.  All of us have been so blessed, and Jesus calls us to be generous in what we are given.

In the month of November, we will be helping contribute to their Thanksgiving Food Boxes that they distribute to families in need for the holiday.  They have been blessed already with 250 turkeys for these boxes and are asking for the “sides” to go with them.  Each week in November is assigned a canned food item.  All items are due by November 18 in order to be included in the Thanksgiving Food Boxes.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

November 7-11:  Canned Corn and Canned Green Beans

November 14-18:  Canned Fruit and Canned Soup
