Band Information 2016-2017

Dear St. Dominic Band Parents and Students,

We welcome your child to 5th and 6th Grade Band at St. Dominic Catholic School! A word right to students: If you are a returning band student, I am excited to be your teacher again this year! If you are a 6th grade student or 5th grade student this year and have not been a part of band but you are interested, I welcome you to try it out! There’s room for every one of you!

Parents, I want to let you know that due to increased responsibilities at GCCC, I need to move Band to 7:30 AM. 6th Grade Band will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at this new time and 5th Grade Band will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at this time.

There will be an opportunity for you and your child to visit with our preferred instrument dealer, when they travel to Garden City on September 13th at Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center, or September 15th at Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center, after school into the early evening hours at both locations. All St. Dominic Band students will need Essential Elements for Band on their specific instrument, which will be available at these display nights. There may be other accessories available for purchase then.

Another option may be to visit to acquire your child’s instrument. Brand names such as Conn, Selmer, Gemeinhardt, Jupiter, Yamaha, and Bach are great, reputable instruments that should require less maintenance than perhaps an off-brand.

If you have any questions about brand names and instrument quality, Essential Elements for Band, or anything relating to band at St. Dominic please do not hesitate to contact me at this number: 276-8981. I also welcome appointments to meet in person!

Let’s work together to make this the best year ever!

Band Director, K-6 Music St. Dominic School

It's that time of year again! Here is a helpful article posted recently on about practice habits. Why do I keep posting things about practice? Because the science of practicing music also applies to problem solving across the subjects!

Here you go! Happy reading!

The account name is SaintDominBand56 and use your child's first name to create their account access. A few have already "enrolled" to eei, so you will not need to re-register. Please take a few minutes to get started! Use the link above to view the setup process. Thanks! Mr. L
